It really sucks that many of these are not like Melda, where you can try out the plugin before you purchase. The problem is that I really don't want to be forking out money for plugins that I won't like once it's purchased. I have seen some honorable mentions, as well: The Lexicon PCM Native Reverb is mentioned quite a bit, and another Valhalla unit, the ValhallaDSP ValhallaRoom, is mentioned with almost as great a fervor. Since there does not appear to be any FREE reverb plugins worth checking out, and looking at Reverbs to PAY for, there appear to be a couple I have seen recommended on the internet. And this whole issue has become a huge detriment. Now that we are in the computer age, I have been searching, unsuccessfully, for a free reverb plugin that can give me the same results.Īfter reading plenty of reviews, I broke down about seven months ago and purchased Valhalla Vintage Verb, and while it works great compared to the stock Reaper Reverb for just about every instrument, all the presets are directed at drums, and I just cannot duplicate the sound of that Akai unit for the vocals. And vocal tracks were all the better for it. That baby had the freshest most professional sounding reverb I have laid ears to. Before computers, I used an Akai DPS-16 Digital Home Studio.
